You can build unlimited Roleplay Sessions on Synthesia Basic, including the free plan. The shared playback allowance is 10 plays per month on Basic, Starter and Pro; Enterprise gets 25 for the entire organization. A play is a learner opening the roleplay video, not the act of designing a scenario. Shared playback pauses after the allowance runs out and resumes the following month.1
Which limit applies to your account?
| Account or learner | Included shared plays | How it is counted | After the cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic (free) | 10/month | Shared allowance | Playback pauses |
| Starter | 10/month | Shared allowance | Playback pauses |
| Pro (formerly Creator) | 10/month | Shared allowance | Playback pauses |
| Enterprise | 25/month | One pool across the organization | Everyone using free plays pauses |
| Paid Roleplay Sessions learner seat | Uncapped for that assigned learner | One seat per person | Free allowance still exists for unseated guests |
Buying a more expensive Studio subscription does not by itself remove the shared-play cap. Roleplay learner seats are a separate subscription. The official US-dollar example is $29 per seat monthly, or $25 per month equivalent with annual billing. Check checkout for local pricing and taxes.2
What actually consumes one play?
A play is recorded when a learner loads the roleplay on its share page. Embedded roleplays and SCORM packages consume the same allowance. Creating another copy does not open a second quota. The published rules do not promise a credit back when someone leaves midway, so avoid sending a test link to a large mailing list before checking usage.
Creating scenarios is unlimited, and previewing your own work during editing does not count. Picture a team that builds 20 customer-objection exercises: it still has only 10 shared plays on Basic that month. That is the distinction between how many you make and how many times learners open them.1
Does Enterprise get 25 per workspace?
No. The 25 monthly plays belong to the whole organization, even if it has five workspaces. Once the combined count reaches 25, free-link playback pauses everywhere. Duplicating the scenario will not restart the counter. Find remaining plays under Billing in account information. The official guidance says the cap resets the following month but does not publish a universal clock time or time zone.1
What changed on October 1, 2026?
Synthesia announced Sessions broadly on October 1. Its updated plans also provide a monthly base allowance of 10 video-or-dubbing minutes, three Survey Session responses and 500 flexible credits. Those are separate from the 10 Roleplay Session plays. Roleplay and feedback scenes do not use video credits; ordinary scripted Studio scenes within the same lesson do. Creator was renamed Pro in the plan update.5
The announcement date establishes the Sessions rollout and plan revision, not a verified first effective date for the 10-play cap. Older support pages still saying Creator refer to the renamed Pro tier.
Are all interface languages supported in a live roleplay?
Not necessarily. The newer dedicated help article lists spoken roleplay support for English, Spanish, German, French, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, Polish, European and Brazilian Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Dutch, Swedish and Turkish. Its list does not include Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese or Indonesian. A product landing page still describes a smaller set of languages; for actual availability, prioritize the specific help list and check the voice picker in your workspace.3
Bottom line
Basic is enough to build and test scenarios. Budget 10 learner opens a month for Basic, Starter or Pro, versus 25 organization-wide for Enterprise. For repeated team training, assign paid learner seats to the people who need uncapped attempts and keep the shared allowance for occasional guests. Check Billing before distributing a link.
