Three promises
Experience, facts and opinions are kept separate. So readers can tell how much of the story has been verified.
Everything is checked before publishing. Numbers, sources, personal information and readability are reviewed in a pre-publication check.
Mistakes get fixed. Anything reported is looked into, and articles are rewritten when needed.
How an article comes together
1. Gathering the source material Articles are based on things I've experienced or tried myself, and things confirmed on official websites and similar sources. My own experience alone is never used to claim “everyone's the same.”
2. Checking information that changes Information that may change, such as prices, programs or service details, is checked against official websites. Anything that couldn't be confirmed is either stated as unconfirmed or left out of the article.
3. Polishing the text AI is sometimes used to organize text, translate it, or check for repeated content. AI-generated phrasing is never allowed to erase the specific scenes and words of the original experience.
4. Checking before publishing Content, numbers, sources, personal information and readability are reviewed. Articles and translations that don't pass this check are not published. Other language versions go out only once they pass the check in that language.
5. Checking the page after publishing Published articles are checked to make sure they display correctly on the live page. Anything broken gets fixed.
How articles distinguish content
Experience What the writer actually did, saw, or was told.
Verified facts What could be confirmed on official websites or in documents. Information that may change is marked as such.
Opinion What the writer thinks, based on the experience and facts. It is never written as if it were fact.
Consideration for people and organizations
In personal stories, details that could identify specific people or companies are removed as needed. Feelings only the person themselves could know, or illnesses that can't be confirmed, are never written as fact.
How reading data is used
Which articles are read most and which links within articles are used are counted as numbers that don't identify individuals. These counts are used to order related articles and to choose which articles to rewrite. For details, see the privacy policy.
Corrections and updates
If a mistake is found in an article, it gets corrected. When the content changes significantly, the article's updated date is refreshed. If you notice anything, please let me know the article URL and where the issue is through the contact page.
