Description: Free Firefly AI Assistant generations refresh at midnight GMT for eligible accounts. Since October 1, 2026, eligible paid-plan actions draw from AI credits. Here is what changed, who qualifies, and how to check your balance.

Short answer: Eligible adults with free Adobe accounts in selected regions can try Firefly AI Assistant, with daily generations refreshing at 00:00 GMT. Since October 1, 2026, many generation and editing actions on paid plans use the plan's AI credits, which refresh on the subscription billing date.

Free versus paid access

Account Access Reset or limit
Free Adobe account Limited beta for a subset of accounts in selected regions Daily complimentary generations; 00:00 GMT
Paid Creative Cloud Expanded to Creative Cloud plan holders October 1 Eligible actions use AI credits; monthly billing-date reset
Eligible paid Firefly plans Standard, Pro, Pro Plus and Premium are named Plan-dependent credit balance and billing-date reset
Enterprise or education Depends on the contract Certain legacy enterprise plans and K–12 excluded; higher education and some enterprise uses not optimized

Adobe's Assistant FAQ does not provide a universal daily generation count or a complete country list for free beta access. The Firefly Free product tier and eligibility for the separate AI Assistant beta should not be treated as identical.

What changed on October 1?

At the April 27 public-beta launch, Adobe promised eligible paid customers complimentary daily credits reserved for AI Assistant. An older regional FAQ still describes those separate daily credits. The newer English FAQ, updated September 24, and localized FAQ revisions dated October 7 state that eligible paid actions began drawing from available AI credits on October 1. For current billing decisions, the dated Assistant-specific change takes priority over older beta copy. The help page's update date is not itself the effective date.

How many credits does one action use?

Generating and editing content usually consumes credits, but the cost varies by action. After an action finishes, hover over its credit icon to see the amount. Adobe's illustration shows five credits for one edit; it is an example, not a universal price. Check the Adobe account page for remaining monthly credits and the reset date. Regular monthly generative credits do not roll over.

A free user who runs out just before midnight GMT can wait for the next daily refresh. A paid user who runs out at the same moment must instead consider the billing date, a plan upgrade, or an optional credit purchase. Adobe says multiple plans with different billing dates use the billing date of the first plan for generative-credit resets.

Language, region and device restrictions

The beta is optimized for English, French, German and Japanese. Other languages may work with reduced optimization. Free access is limited to selected regions and accounts, and the assistant is provided on Firefly's web experience rather than inside Adobe desktop or mobile apps. Do not confuse it with separate assistants embedded in individual Adobe applications.

Bottom line

Free eligibility: midnight GMT daily. Paid usage: your subscription's monthly reset date. Verify that the Assistant beta appears on your account, then check the credits shown after an action. A paid subscription does not automatically mean unlimited assistant work.
