Description: Understand Udio's two free credit allowances, actual song-generation costs, reset rules, updated Standard and Pro limits, the download shutdown, and seven-day trial billing. Official information checked October 18, 2026.
The answer: Udio provides 10 free credits each day. Once those are exhausted, an additional pool of 100 monthly credits becomes available. The official explanation separates the pools; it is misleading to collapse everything into a single 100-credit monthly ceiling. However, audio, video and stem downloads remain disabled even for paid subscribers.[1][2]
How far do ten credits go?
Each generation creates two songs. Two 32-second tracks cost 2 credits; two approximately 130-second tracks cost 4. Five short-song generations consume the daily ten, after which any remaining additional monthly allowance can be used. A separate Free restriction allows only three approximately 130-second songs per day, regardless of the remaining balance.[1]
Periodic credits do not roll over. The checked official documents do not state a universal daily reset hour or an exact monthly reset timestamp for every free account. Check the signed-in credit indicator instead of assuming a midnight reset in your timezone.[1][3]
Free, Standard, Pro and trial compared
| Plan | Current official credit allowance | Important detail |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 10 daily; additional 100 monthly after daily use | No rollover; three long songs per day |
| Standard | 2,400 monthly | Increased from 1,200 |
| Pro | 6,000 monthly | Increased from 4,800 |
| Seven-day Standard trial | Free credit limits still apply | Some editing tools unlocked |
| Separately purchased credits | Purchased amount | Official help says they never expire |
Udio's October 29, 2025 Universal Music Group transition raised Standard from 1,200 to 2,400 and Pro from 4,800 to 6,000. Subscribers at that transition also received a one-time 1,000-credit grant.[2] A rollover FAQ dated February 20, 2026 still lists the older 1,200 and 4,800 figures.[3] For current limits, prioritize the dedicated credit-limit article and the explicit change announcement.[1][2] Checkout pricing, currency and tax can vary by location and billing period.[7]
Does paying restore downloads?
No. Udio disabled exporting audio, video and stems as part of its partnership transition.[2][6] Users can still create, listen, remix and share Udio links.[5] More generation credits are not the same as receiving a downloadable file. If you need audio for a video editor, a distributor or a client, check actual export availability and the latest terms before purchasing.[8] No firm reopening date was established by the checked official sources.
The seven-day trial catch
The Standard trial is generally available once per account for up to seven days. Editing and Voice Control features may be unlocked, but the Free credit ceiling and three-long-songs-per-day limit remain. Unless canceled, the trial converts to a paid subscription; Udio warns that the annual price will be charged unless monthly billing was selected beforehand.[4]
Bottom line
Free is useful for testing ideas and listening within Udio. For deliverable audio files, the export shutdown matters more than the credit balance. Decide based on the output you actually need.
