Description: Why does Saif Ali Khan's October 2026 Gowardhan Ghee advertisement reveal a room full of jars? The quiz-show prize, Kapil Sharma callback and staged Instagram Live explained.
The overflowing room is the payoff to a running joke about a prize Saif said had not arrived. He was delighted by the prospect of two years of ghee on Kaun Banega Crorepati, joked about the missing delivery on another show, and then turned the story into a brand collaboration posted by October 24. The commercial does not independently prove delivery.
The original quiz-show scene
Sony LIV lists season 18, episode 20 of Kaun Banega Crorepati, “Akshay And Saif On Hot Seat,” on September 4, 2026.[1] Host Amitabh Bachchan offered a potential two-year supply of Gowardhan Ghee for answering question ten without a lifeline. Saif's outsized excitement made co-guest Akshay Kumar laugh.[3] Ghee is a clarified dairy fat widely used in South Asian cooking. A film star apparently valuing a kitchen staple like a jackpot was the first reversal. Some later articles loosely say “late September,” but the official episode date is September 4.
Why did people start asking about delivery?
On October 17, Saif appeared with Kareena Kapoor Khan on Netflix's The Great Indian Kapil Show, season five, episode four.[5][6] Host Kapil Sharma revisited the prize; Saif joked that it had not arrived. “Saifu ko ghee do,” roughly “Give Saif his ghee,” became an Indian online refrain, and the brand played along.[4] This was a joke, not proof of a legal dispute.
What happens in the October 24 video?
Saif's Instagram collaboration with Gowardhan imitates a live broadcast.[2][3] He asks viewers to stop discussing ghee, but the on-screen questions keep returning to the two-year supply. Someone passes behind him with a parcel. When Saif turns the phone, a room packed with ghee containers appears; he hastily tries to hide it. The apparent camera accident is a scripted visual punchline. On-screen messages in a commercial are not necessarily authenticated spontaneous live comments.
What is the “aura farming” versus “dairy farming” joke?
Reporting quotes a line about moving from “aura farming” to “dairy farming.”[3] The first is internet slang for cultivating an impressive image; the second means producing milk. A polished movie star has somehow become the face of dairy products. The Hindi word “gauravshali,” meaning glorious, also gives an ordinary cooking ingredient the ceremonial language of a major award.
Did the ghee really arrive?
The September episode, October 17 callback, October 24 brand video and documented Indian reactions are verifiable.[1][3][4] A room of advertising props cannot establish whether the original two-year supply was physically delivered. The caption's “lifetime supply” is another exaggeration. Indian popularity does not prove that the joke trended worldwide.
Conclusion
The prize became a delivery joke; the delivery joke became an ad. Saif wanted everyone to stop talking about ghee and ended up starring in a commercial entirely about it.
