Answer: As of October 25, 2026, Capcom has not provided an official cross-save feature or transfer procedure for moving Dragon's Dogma 2 progress from PC or PS5 to Switch 2. Anyone buying the handheld version should plan around a fresh adventure rather than an automatic continuation. A future cross-save update has not been announced.
Why portability makes this more than a technical question
Dark Arisen arrived on October 9, 2026. On Switch 2, it bundles the original adventure and its expansion. That sounds ideal for someone who has already spent dozens of hours developing an Arisen and recruiting Pawns on another machine. The catch is that owning the same story on two systems does not automatically make their save files compatible.
In a July 7 Reddit discussion, a player described having substantial progress on both PC and PS5, wanting to buy the Switch 2 release for portable play, and dreading another full start before reaching the expansion. Their ideal setup was better visuals at home and handheld play on the move. This is a documented individual concern, not a poll of the entire community.
What Capcom's save FAQ actually covers
Capcom's support FAQ, updated October 12, explains importing an Arisen and Main Pawn created in the separate Character Creator tool. It specifies the same account and character-creation data saved on the console. That is a transfer of character design into the game, not a promise that completed quests, equipment and levels travel from PS5 to Switch 2.
The same FAQ states that Pawns can be hired only between players on the same platform. The game's network features therefore should not be mistaken for universal cross-platform progression. Capcom's product announcement also gives no steps for importing a completed adventure onto Switch 2.
Should existing owners buy the expansion or the bundle?
Capcom distinguishes the editions clearly. Switch 2 receives the base game plus Dark Arisen together. Existing PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC players can purchase the expansion separately for their original game. If your priority is continuing with the Arisen you have already built, the expansion on your current platform is the straightforward route.
The Switch 2 bundle instead makes sense for someone who values taking the entire game on the road and is comfortable creating a second journey. You might even experiment with a different vocation and Pawn pairing. Just do not treat that creative restart as a substitute for a feature you specifically wanted.
Could a patch add cross-save later?
It is possible for games to gain features after launch, but possibility is not a development announcement. As of the stated date, Capcom has not supplied a cross-save timetable. Watch for an explicit announcement about transferring progress between platforms. More save slots, improved saving, or importing a character's appearance would answer different questions.
Verdict: A portable world is not yet a portable save
Keep playing your established Arisen on the platform where the save lives, or begin a separate adventure on Switch 2. The future could change that choice if Capcom announces cross-save. For now, the thing players most want to pack for a trip is not a sword or a Pawn. It is yesterday's progress.
