Spoilers for episode 26 (“The Breaking Point”) of the new adaptation, as of October 12, 2026.
Ryoga's new secret move and what the training did to his body are two different things. Fans discussing the episode pointed out an odd contrast: smashing a rock is not necessarily the same as knocking out Ranma. Yet Ryoga looks far harder to knock down than before.
The official synopsis sets the stakes. Ryoga wants revenge, trains under Cologne, and fights Ranma with Akane caught in the middle. A technique called Breaking Point sounds like the perfect ending to a rivalry: one touch, one explosion, roll credits. It is an excellent name for making everyone nervous.
But some viewers read the reveal differently. They saw a move designed around breaking rocks and a student who became extremely resilient by surviving punishing practice. Those benefits are related without being identical. Knowing how to find a boulder's weak point is not a guarantee that a martial artist will suffer the same fate. And a very durable opponent can be a problem even without a guaranteed knockout technique.
There is a funny reversal: Ryoga went searching for an amazing sword and may have returned with amazing armor instead. He wanted an easier way to bring Ranma down. Instead, Ranma might have acquired a rival who refuses to stay down.
That is a fan interpretation, not a new official rule. The production confirms the training, the named technique and the duel. Its synopsis does not say that Breaking Point can never hurt a human or that Ryoga's defenses are infinite. Future uses remain uncertain. What matters now is that judging the training only by its flashiest move misses the most troublesome result.
