As of October 12, 2026. This covers broadcast announcements through the first half of Season 3, not manga plot spoilers.
Yes, Season 3 already started. No, the January 2027 announcement is not a mysterious second attempt at Season 3. It's Season 3 Part 2, the next portion of the same television season.
A fan in a recent r/anime discussion asked whether One-Punch Man hadn't already had its third season. Fair question: the first part began airing in Japan in October 2025. When a show returns with the exact same season number more than a year later, the numbering looks like it lost a fight with Saitama.
The useful distinction is the Japanese term cour, a block of TV episodes. A season can be split into separate cours with a gap between them. The new announcement concerns the second cour of Season 3, rather than a fourth season or a rebroadcast of the first cour. You don't need to invent an unseen Season 4 to make the calendar add up.
On October 11, 2026, the anime's official Japanese site confirmed January 2027 for the broadcast in Japan. It also revealed another promotional video, fresh key art and an opening performed by JAM Project, titled “Never Done -SUPREME POWER VS ULTIMATE FEAR-.” Those are actual announced details, not predictions based on trailer frames.
What isn't settled by that announcement? The exact January premiere day, the total episode count, and whether every country gets the episodes on the Japanese airdate. Nor does confirmation of Season 3 Part 2 automatically confirm Season 4. A trailer can promise a showdown; it can't silently sign a whole new season contract.
The reassuring part is simple: the continuation exists on the official schedule. The unanswered part is when and where viewers outside Japan can watch it.
