As of October 13, 2026. No plot spoilers. The Sift is not playable in standard Minecraft Java or Bedrock yet. Mojang says it is coming to the main game in 2027. You can, however, explore a version of it in Minecraft Dungeons II, released September 29, 2026.
An early-October Bedrock player noticed an unfamiliar screen and asked whether Minecraft had received a Halloween update. The comments offered different explanations: a promotion for Dungeons II, or perhaps a hint that the Sift was arriving through the Ancient City. The confusion is real. The exact purpose of that screen was not confirmed by the official material checked, so a comment about advertising should not be mistaken for a developer announcement.
There are three milestones, not one: Minecraft LIVE showed more of the Sift on September 26; Dungeons II launched with its version on September 29; and Mojang announced a 2027 arrival for regular Minecraft. Sharing a universe does not mean sharing an update date.
Dungeons II presents new creatures, colorful environments and unusual effects in the Sift. For Java and Bedrock, Mojang has not yet fully explained the entrance, the mechanics or how the experience will differ. The mysterious structure in an Ancient City makes an excellent theory magnet, but it is not a confirmed route.
Bottom line: the dimension has neither been cancelled nor secretly activated in your survival world. The spin-off got there first. Save your pickaxes until there is an actual 2027 update to dig into.
