Description: Cursor's October 2026 X Subscription refreshes paid usage weekly; legacy Pro still resets monthly. Compare free limits, prices, Claude/GPT charges, and migration rules.

Answer: Paid The X Subscription plans, launched October 12, 2026, refresh their shared Cursor-model allowance weekly. Existing legacy Pro, Pro+, Ultra and Teams customers keep monthly billing-cycle resets until they choose to switch. The right answer depends on which subscription you hold.

Two different allowance systems

Feature Legacy Cursor The X Subscription
Included allowance Two monthly pools: Cursor Models and Other Models One weekly Cursor-model pool shared with Grok
Reset Monthly billing cycle Weekly; check your Usage page for the date
Claude/GPT Other Models pool on Pro and above Separate API-price charges from the first request on Premium and above
Extra usage Optional postpaid on-demand Prepaid top-ups
Check balance Cursor Spending Grok Usage or Cursor settings
Unused allowance No rollover No rollover

There is no officially stated universal Monday-midnight reset. Your dashboard shows the next date. Free provides limited Agent and Chat access, but the public pricing page does not specify a universal fixed free-request count or exact free reset time.

Current plan prices and model access

Plan Advertised monthly USD Relative allowance Third-party models
Free $0 Limited No
Plus $8 Baseline No
Premium $30 4× Plus Separately billed
Super $100 15× Plus Separately billed
Ultra $200 50× Plus Separately billed

The shared pool covers Grok 4.7, 4.6, 4.5 and Composer 2.5 in Cursor and eligible Grok chat, image, voice and bot usage. Grok use can reduce what remains for coding. Grok API billing is separate. Plus cannot use third-party models; Premium and higher can access Claude/GPT at API list price from prepaid credit, not from the included weekly pool. Listed prices exclude tax and regional checkout conditions vary.

Will old $20 Pro become $30 Premium automatically?

No. The October 12 announcement allows existing subscribers to retain their price and benefits. Pro $20 versus Premium $30, Pro+ $60 versus Super $100, and old Ultra $200 versus new Ultra $200 are comparisons, not automatic upgrades. Legacy Start is restricted to India at ₹649 per month including tax.

Switching is permanent. Your included Other Models pool disappears. Eligible unused subscription time is refunded proportionally, while unpaid on-demand usage is settled. A legacy Cursor subscription bought through Apple's App Store must be cancelled by the user separately.

What about purchased credits?

Top-ups are separate from weekly allowances. Official help currently says prepaid credit expires 365 days after purchase unless spent first. A monthly extra-spending cap can control costs.

Bottom line

New paid X Subscription: weekly. Legacy Cursor Pro: monthly. If Claude or GPT drives most of your work, compare your current Other Models consumption before switching. October 12 was the new plan's launch, not a forced migration date. Sources checked October 17, 2026.
