Description: Claude's October 2026 API-credit benefit gives Max 5x $100 and Max 20x $200 per month. See which Team seats qualify, why Pro does not, the seven-day wait, billing-cycle reset, and the crucial Claude Code exception.

Yes: Claude Max 5x includes $100 in monthly Claude Platform API credits, while Max 20x includes $200. Team plans also qualify, but Free, Pro and Enterprise do not. These are API spending credits, separate from the message and coding limits attached to your Claude subscription. Anthropic's Agent SDK help page identifies an October 7, 2026 update. [1][2]

Which plan gets what?

Plan Monthly API credit Key detail
Free, Pro, Enterprise Not eligible No monthly credit under this offer
Max 5x $100 Claimed by the subscriber
Max 20x $200 Claimed by the subscriber
Team Standard seat $20 per seat Combined into one team balance
Team Premium seat $100 per seat Combined into one team balance

A Team organization receives a maximum of $500 a month, including eligible discounted Team plans. Three Standard seats and two Premium seats produce $260, not five independent accounts with separate credits. These figures describe credits, not subscription prices. [1]

Why isn't the credit showing up yet?

New subscribers must spend seven days on an eligible plan before claiming. The Max subscriber or a Team Owner/Primary Owner opens Billing on the Claude website and links a Claude Console organization. The person linking must also hold an Owner, Admin or Billing role in that Console organization. Mobile subscribers still claim through a web browser; no new card is required on Claude Platform. [1]

Choose the organization carefully: only one Console organization can be linked, and changing it later requires support. The credit belongs to the linked organization, not to every individual who happens to use the same Team plan. [1]

Does this buy more interactive Claude Code time?

No. The balance covers the Claude API, Console Playground, Claude Managed Agents and Claude Agent SDK. It does not top up interactive Claude Code sessions, Claude chat or Cowork, and it cannot pay for usage through Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI or Microsoft Foundry. [1]

There is one subtle but important claude -p distinction. Run it yourself with an API key from the linked Console organization, and it can consume API credits. Sign in using your Claude subscription instead, and the normal subscription limits apply. Claude Code runs launched from a GitHub Action, IDE extension or desktop app are still Claude Code usage—even when -p appears. Same command, different billing route. [1][2]

When do credits reset, and do unused dollars roll over?

Credits arrive shortly after the payment for each billing cycle is processed; annual subscriptions still receive them monthly. Unused monthly credits expire at the end of that cycle. Check the Console billing screen for the exact balance and expiration date rather than assuming a universal midnight reset on the first of the month. [1]

If the API credit runs out, purchased credits or auto-reload can keep requests going. Otherwise requests pause until the next grant. Invoiced organizations follow their existing billing arrangement. The credits do not silently convert into an extra Claude subscription charge. [1]

What changed in October?

Anthropic paused an earlier Agent SDK usage change on June 15, 2026. Its October 7 update introduced the separate Max/Team monthly API-credit benefit while subscription-authenticated SDK usage continued to draw on plan limits. The general credit terms took effect in March 2024, but the specific monthly offer explicitly sets expiration at each billing-cycle end. Region-by-region launch dates are not specified in the cited announcement. [2][1][3]

Bottom line: Think of these credits as a monthly wallet for building with Claude, not a battery pack for longer Claude Code chats. Before upgrading, decide which meter you actually want to refill.
