Description: Season 2 was announced in 2022, yet its release date remains elusive. Separate the official announcement, the 2025 EXTRA PART OVA and fan concerns in 2026.
As of October 15, 2026, SK8 the Infinity Season 2 still has an official production announcement, but no confirmed premiere date. The official news archive contains no cancellation notice. The 2025 EXTRA PART OVA is not the second television season.
One announcement, two projects
On August 14, 2022, the Japanese production website announced both a new OVA and production of Season 2. They were two separate projects announced together. The OVA reached selected Japanese cinemas on January 24, 2025, before its Blu-ray and DVD release on March 19. Its roughly 25 minutes feature short stories about Reki, Langa and Miya caught in the rain, Cherry and Joe at school, and glimpses of Adam, Tadashi and Shadow's daily lives.
That release confirms new SK8 animation was completed in 2025. It cannot tell us when the TV continuation will air. Likewise, the official July 8, 2026 news entry concerned an August Instagram livestream, not a Season 2 broadcast schedule.
Why fans are worried
On May 31, 2026, a Reddit user explicitly asked whether Season 2 could be cancelled after years of waiting. Some replies mentioned how anime projects can change; others found reassurance in the finished OVA. These are documented individual reactions, not a representative survey of fans. A long silence is unsettling, but silence alone cannot establish cancellation. The OVA is encouraging, but it does not establish the current production stage either.
SK8 is an original anime about Reki, Langa and the underground skateboard races called “S.” There is no original manga chapter count from which to calculate a television premiere. Claims of a late-2026 or early-2027 release need a dated announcement from the production team.
The answer for now
Season 2 was announced in 2022, EXTRA PART arrived in 2025, and the Season 2 premiere date remains the missing piece in October 2026. Look for an official broadcaster, release window or new trailer clearly labelled Season 2. Infinity looks great in the title; fans would prefer their wait to have a finish line.
