On the October 25, 2026 episode of South Korea's Running Man, bride-to-be Ji Ye-eun declined an offer by Ji Suk-jin and Song Ji-hyo to perform at her wedding. Suk-jin had already recorded “Milkshake” with Ye-eun herself, while her fiancé VATA had choreographed it. The song with the closest connections to the couple somehow failed to make the wedding lineup.

What happened?

Episode 824 aired on SBS on Sunday at 6:10 p.m. Korea time. The main challenge involved securing a company payment card or covering expenses personally. But the opening conversation turned to Ye-eun's planned December 12 wedding to dancer VATA. Yoo Jae-suk was to emcee and Kim Jong-kook to sing a congratulatory song. Suk-jin and Ji-hyo volunteered too. According to the post-broadcast report, Ji-hyo suggested performing “Milkshake” with Suk-jin. Ye-eun jokingly said she wanted a wedding with quality and declined. Suk-jin responded as though he had failed an audition.

Why that song?

On June 20, 2025, Suk-jin and Ye-eun released “Milkshake,” featuring Wonstein, as Chungju Ji-C (충주지씨), a project name based on their shared Korean surname and clan designation. The official music video is on Suk-jin's verified YouTube channel. Suk-jin wasn't suggesting a random track: he was the bride's original duet partner. Ji-hyo's proposal would turn Ye-eun's own song into a performance by other cast members.

The groom's hidden link

A July 2025 announcement for WATERBOMB SEOUL credited the “Milkshake” choreography to VATA, leader of dance crew WDBZ. The bride sang, Suk-jin recorded with her, and the groom devised the dance. That does not establish any plan for VATA to dance it at the wedding. It makes the rejection funnier precisely because professional and personal connections do not guarantee a booking.

The final punchline

When Suk-jin protested, Yoo suggested he sing at his daughter Na-eun's upcoming birthday instead. The apparent consolation quietly moved him from a prominent wedding to a child's family party. The remark about “quality” was television banter, not a verified judgment on anyone's voice. Korean and Taiwanese outlets covered the exchange on October 23–25. This explanation relies on SBS-supplied preview material, post-broadcast reporting and the official music video, not a claimed viewing of the full episode. The bride recorded the song, the groom choreographed it, and the duet partner still couldn't get a wedding gig.
