Someone promised the biggest celebration imaginable for a romance they expected to become canon the next day. Twelve years later, the bottles are still a joke. A new Avatar: Seven Havens preview brought Korra and Asami back into the conversation, and fans went from revisiting a spectacularly wrong prediction to planning an imaginary wedding.

The prediction that became a time capsule

On December 17, 2014, Tumblr user avatarskorra wrote, “we popping the BIGGEST bottles when makorra happens tomorrow.” Makorra was the fan pairing of Korra and Mako in The Legend of Korra. But the finale instead pointed toward Korra and Asami as a couple. Another Tumblr user, tonraq, reblogged the prediction with a dejected Pepe image on December 18. That juxtaposition turned premature confidence into an enduring fandom meme.

The joke is not that one pairing deserves ridicule. It is that the party supplies were apparently ordered before the outcome was known. The champagne arrived; the forecast did not.

A new preview, an old receipt

Avatar: Seven Havens premiered on Paramount+ on October 9, 2026. An October 21 promotional clip titled “An Old World Mover” prompted viewers to focus on older versions of Korra and Asami, especially their necklaces. Many interpreted the jewelry as a sign that the characters had married. That is a fan reading of the preview here, not a separately verified official marriage announcement.

On October 22, Know Your Meme documented renewed X posts referencing the old bottles meme. The original prediction had become a screenshot people could retrieve whenever new Korra material appeared. Internet archaeology, except the artifact is a party invitation that never got used.

What real commenters added

In an October 21 Reddit discussion, people excitedly debated the necklaces. One commenter joked that they hoped both women had been invited to each other's weddings. A reply proposed the obvious loophole: marry each other and attend both. Another imagined Mako serving as best man for both brides. Elsewhere, the familiar “roommates” joke returned, deliberately understating a relationship viewers were celebrating.

Those are summaries of visible public comments, not dialogue invented for this article. They work because the conversation shifts from interpreting a costume detail to organizing a wedding that exists entirely in the replies.

Original comedy: inventory report for a lost celebration

Fictional warehouse exchange

Clerk: “We found the 2014 Makorra celebration bottles.” Manager: “Expiry date?” Clerk: “The prediction expired twelve years ago.” Manager: “Can we send them to the Korrasami wedding?” Clerk: “They're labeled ‘Makorra Victory.’” Manager: “Then put them in the museum.”

The drinks never had their intended toast, but the packaging became a historical document.

The punchline

The new footage revived more than a relationship debate. It revived an old promise so confidently wrong that it can still power jokes twelve years later. The bottles stayed sealed; the internet kept the receipt.
