Description: On SBS's Korean comedy talk show Maestro Jang on October 22, 2026, Jin Seon-kyu copied the director's glasses, expressions and finger gestures. Here is why a decade-long movie and a supernatural travel trick were funny.

Jin Seon-kyu became a near-double of director Jang Hang-jun because he was participating in a fictional audition to play Jang himself. The proposed film would supposedly take ten years to shoot. The production plan is already part of the joke.

When did it happen?

SBS premiered 거장항준 (Maestro Jang) on October 15. Episode two aired Thursday, October 22 at 9 p.m. Korean time. Real director Jang plays a filmmaker determined to dramatize his own life, with Song Eun-yi as a producer and Kim Poong as an assistant director. Celebrity interviews become exaggerated casting sessions.

Why ten years?

The imagined movie, 항준이, 어딧세이, follows a character who travels the world using chukjibeop, a legendary ability to cross distances instantly. Jang proposes shooting entirely overseas and recording the character's ageing over ten actual years. One acting job would require reserving an entire decade.

Why copy the director's fingers?

Jin asked how to land the lead, put on thick-rimmed glasses, and imitated Jang's expressions and small finger movements. Song called him a doppelgänger. An official SBS clip posted October 22 describes Jin refining his impression of a younger Jang after Kim Poong's feedback. Normally an actor studies a character. Here the character's real-life model is interviewing him, so careful preparation turns into an impersonation contest.

What is the ground-folding technique?

In East Asian fantasy and martial-arts stories, chukjibeop is a mythical way of travelling enormous distances. Jang claimed he learned it to avoid being late by folding the ground. Jin countered with a slickback-like gliding method, supposedly usable on water. SBS also posted a clip joking that Jang's demonstration made the camera crew nervous. They are not demonstrating actual powers; they are discussing the impossible with the seriousness of film technicians.

The answer

The broadcast, cast and clips are documented by SBS. The ten-year production and fantastical movement are part of the show's comic premise, not an announced film. This account draws on official reports and clip descriptions, not a claimed viewing of the entire episode. Ten years of shooting seemed acceptable; getting the director's finger gestures right was essential.
