Description: Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West made it to PC. Will Aloy's next single-player adventure follow, or has PlayStation changed the rules? Here's what is confirmed and what fans are actually saying.

There is no confirmed PC edition of the game fans call Horizon 3 as of October 24, 2026. The outlook has become less encouraging: reporting in May described Sony moving away from PC releases of major internally developed single-player games. That is a company-wide strategy report, not a specific cancellation notice for an announced Horizon 3 PC port.

Why PC players expected a trilogy

This isn't a demand based on wishful thinking. Sony itself brought Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition to PC in March 2024, following the first adventure's PC release. The Complete Edition also includes Burning Shores, so PC players can follow Aloy's story well beyond the first game's ending. It was reasonable to imagine the third chapter arriving later, even if PlayStation got it first.

On May 18, 2026, Gematsu reported, citing Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, that PlayStation Studios chief Hermen Hulst had told a company town hall that big single-player games would no longer come to PC. The report distinguishes online games and certain externally developed projects. Sony has not supplied a Horizon 3 platform announcement to settle the question for this particular sequel.

What the actual discussion sounds like

A March 5 thread in r/HorizonForbiddenWest asked PC owners of Zero Dawn and Forbidden West how they would respond if the third game stayed on PlayStation. Replies included people who would watch a playthrough rather than buy a console, others who would wait for a port, and a player describing accessibility needs that make a PC setup essential. These are identifiable examples of concern, not evidence that every fan feels the same way.

But isn't another Horizon game coming to PC?

Yes: Guerrilla announced Horizon Hunters Gathering for PS5 and PC in February 2026. It is a cooperative machine-hunting game. The distinction matters because the reported policy targets big single-player releases while leaving room for multiplayer projects. One Horizon logo does not mean every game under it shares the same platform plan.

The meaningful signals to watch are the next mainline game's official reveal, its listed platforms and any later change in Sony's publishing approach. No one can calculate a PC release window from the previous ports alone.

The bottom line

For now, PC fans have a genuine reason to worry, but no final verdict on this unannounced sequel. The uncomfortable change is that waiting patiently used to feel like a plan; now it feels like a gamble. Aloy can scan a machine for weak points. Players still need Sony to reveal where the next adventure can actually be played.
