Description: “Wikipedia Mascot Trio” fan art brings together Baby Globe, Wikipe-tan and Wikipede. Here is who each character is, why artists grouped them together in September 2026, and which mascot is actually part of Wikipedia's official anniversary campaign.

A little globe with arms, an anime-style girl and a centipede made of books sound like three unrelated internet mascots. They are all linked to Wikipedia. Wikipedia Mascot Trio is the name used for fan art that places these characters together, a format that gained attention on X in September 2026.

Who is who in the trio?

Baby Globe is Wikipedia's globe logo given a face and pale-blue limbs. Wikipedia used the character to celebrate its 25th birthday in 2026. Wikimedia says its design grew from sketches editor Jonathan Ferreira made during his commute; he had originally called it his “little mascot.”

Wikipe-tan is an anime-inspired personification proposed in 2006 and familiar to some WikiProject Anime and Manga readers. Her teal twin-tails and dark outfit predate Baby Globe by nearly two decades. Wikipede traces back to early Wikipedia mascot proposals. The centipede has appeared in more than one design, including a book-bodied version with a mustache.

What started the September 2026 fan-art wave?

Know Your Meme documents renewed attention around Wikipe-tan on September 23. On September 24, an X user posted about how much they liked the three mascots together. KYM reported more than 2.7 million views in nine days for that particular post. Artists subsequently drew their own takes on the group. The figure describes one documented post, not a worldwide total for the meme.

Did Wikipedia officially appoint three mascots?

Not as a permanent team. Baby Globe is a mascot for the official 25th-birthday celebrations. Wikipe-tan and Wikipede have longer histories as community proposals and fan creations. Wikipedia has never settled on a single permanent official mascot for the encyclopedia as a whole.

The format works because the characters make a delightfully mismatched cast. In fan drawings, the newcomer, the longtime anime mascot and the historical centipede suddenly look like colleagues. Think of it as a workplace reunion where the logo, an old fan illustration and an abandoned design pitch all get their own name tags. You opened an encyclopedia and accidentally unlocked the character-select screen.
