The old-console shutdown is not an account wipe
Activision's June 5, 2026 notice explains the staged withdrawal. New downloads stopped on June 4, and the in-game store closed on June 25 for the old consoles. Existing library owners can reinstall during the remaining supported season.
Windows Central's October 15 update suggests November 5 as a likely final day, based on the season calendar. Activision's actual guarantee is access through the end of Black Ops 7 Season 06. A projected date is not a separately confirmed shutdown hour.
Your skin and your wallet follow different rules
An operator skin or weapon blueprint bought with COD Points on PS4 generally remains accessible on PS5 or a supported PC through the same linked Activision account, provided the item is compatible. Account progression also carries over.
But COD Points you haven't spent are tied to platform accounts. PS4 balances can be redeemed on PS5, and Xbox One balances on Xbox Series. A PlayStation-to-Xbox move doesn't automatically carry that wallet across. Many bundles bought directly with money have similar console-family restrictions.
This is a real player concern. In a July 23 Reddit thread, someone with 1,100 COD Points on Xbox One X asked how to use them while now playing on PS5. Replies suggested workarounds, but those aren't official transfer guarantees. An item already bought and currency still waiting to be spent are different assets.
What to check before changing hardware
Verify that both devices use the same linked Activision account. Separate progression, items bought with points, unspent points and direct-cash purchases. Then determine whether you're staying within PlayStation or Xbox, or crossing ecosystems.
A June 29 Reddit post asked whether the shutdown meant the PS4 hardware or the old app, and whether purchased operators would remain usable. After years of matches, a character wardrobe can matter as much as a save file.
Bottom line: Warzone on PS4 and Xbox One is ending, but eligible content and progression can survive on supported devices. Unspent COD Points have a platform-family address. Check where that wallet can go before your final match.
