Answer: As of October 25, 2026, there is no confirmed retail PS5 disc release for The Sinking City 2. Frogwares offered Kickstarter rewards that require physical shipping, but its official FAQ tells backers to select a platform for their game code. A collector's box is not automatically a playable disc edition.

Why the confusion persists after launch

The game launched on August 18, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Its flooded 1920s Arkham trades much of the original game's detective emphasis for survival-horror combat, scarce resources and dangerous exploration. It is a full released game, not a title still waiting for its initial launch.

The Kickstarter campaign ran from March 6 to April 5, 2025 and raised €554,002 from 6,181 backers. Some reward tiers involved physical items and shipping. That is enough for a search result to say “physical collector's edition,” but not enough to establish a mass-market PS5 disc. The distinction matters to players who want something they can lend, resell or keep on a shelf.

What Frogwares actually says

In the project's FAQ, last updated for this question on March 6, 2025, Frogwares explains that a post-campaign survey lets supporters choose the gaming platform for their game code. Backers with a physical tier also provide shipping information. The official wording treats digital game access and shipped merchandise as separate parts of the reward.

The PlayStation listing confirms the game and its August 18 release date. It does not announce a boxed retail SKU. A later disc edition remains possible in principle, but there is no verified date, retailer or announcement to attach to that hope.

The fan concern is real

A June 8 Reddit thread asks directly whether a physical release is planned. One horror collector says a digital-only launch changes the purchase decision; another player would rather support the Ukrainian studio regardless. Those are individual reactions, not a vote by the entire fanbase.

In a September 29 thread, Kickstarter backers discuss tracking labels and collector's rewards arriving later than expected. Someone asks whether a disc comes inside; another commenter recalls that the case is decorative and contains no disc. That answer is a fan's recollection, not an official itemized packing list. Backers should check the exact reward tier they selected.

The useful answer

If playing now is the priority, use an official digital storefront. If owning a PS5 game disc is non-negotiable, wait for an explicit retail-disc announcement rather than assuming the Kickstarter box solves it. If you backed the campaign, track the game code and physical shipment separately.

Arkham is supposed to be full of mysteries. Whether a game box contains a game disc really should not be one of them.
