Recraft advertises 30 free credits every 24 hours, while a September 2026 company guide says up to 50 generations. Learn what resets, when, and what each plan licenses.
The short answer
Recraft's current image-generator page advertises 30 Free credits renewed every 24 hours. Yet its September 21, 2026 avatar guide advertises up to 50 free image generations a day. Those statements use different units and the company does not publish a reconciliation. Treat your account's live allowance as the operative limit rather than promising 50 unrestricted outputs.
Plan comparison
| Plan / balance | Renewal / spending | Commercial rights |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 30 credits / 24 h (general page) | No, for Free assets |
| Basic / Pro | Each billing cycle; no rollover | Yes, for paid-period assets |
| Teams | Billing cycle; shared top-ups | Yes, for paid-period assets |
| Top-ups / API | Top-ups never expire; API separate | Depends on generation plan / API terms |
Does it reset at midnight?
The current public wording says every 24 hours, not midnight in a named time zone. On August 14, 2025, a Recraft representative replied in its official feedback forum that the daily refill time was fixed by the time the account was registered. That historical support reply is useful context, not proof that every account still follows the same rule in October 2026. Check the credit counter or ask support; do not assume UTC midnight or your local midnight.
Why do 30 and 50 differ?
A credit is a unit of spending; a generation is an action. Models, editing tools and output settings can have different prices. The September 2024 pricing announcement gave examples such as one credit for a raster image and two for a vector image, but that is a historical schedule, not a current universal rate. The newer 50-generation claim appears in an avatar-focused guide. Neither page explains how to convert it to today's 30-credit statement.
Free versus paid rights
Images made on Free are public, owned by Recraft and not licensed for commercial use. Upgrading later does not retroactively transfer rights to images made while Free. Recraft's older FAQ preserves a special commercial-license exception for Free images created before August 12, 2024, without transferring ownership. Paid-plan images created during an active subscription are private and carry commercial rights that survive cancellation. Generated assets cannot be used to train AI models under the terms.
Which plan should you choose?
Free suits personal experiments. Basic and Pro suit users needing private, commercially licensed output; Teams adds shared workspace credit management. Subscription credits reset at the beginning of the billing cycle without rollover. Purchased top-up credits do not expire and are available on Basic, Pro and Teams, with Teams top-ups shared across seats. API Units are a separate prepaid balance. Pricing may vary in tests; check your checkout. The terms effective August 11, 2026 for new accounts and August 25 for existing accounts also specify conditional withdrawal rights for EU/EEA and UK consumers.
Bottom line
Use 30 credits per 24 hours as the clearly stated general Free-plan allowance, while flagging the unresolved 50-generations claim. Verify the next refill in your own account, and generate client work only after securing the appropriate paid rights.
Editorial note: the date of any quota change, a 30-to-50 conversion and a universal reset clock are not established.
