Description: A My Hero Academia what-if comparing Gearshift's oxygen problem, One For All recoil, Monoma's Copy, and what Shigaraki lost in canon.
What if America's top hero, Star and Stripe, reached Izuku Midoriya alive? Fans have imagined brutally simple New Order commands: “Deku doesn't need oxygen,” “One For All cannot injure Deku,” and “Monoma copies New Order.” It sounds like the protagonists have found the universe's admin panel.
Their alliance could be enormously powerful, but a swift, casualty-free victory is not guaranteed. Star's death in canon also stripped Shigaraki of several stolen Quirks. Saving her could undo that advantage.
New Order has a two-rule limit
Star can touch something, name it, and impose a rule. She has removed air, manipulated lasers, and enhanced her own body. However, only two rules can remain active simultaneously. One normally supports her own strength, which also has an upper limit. She cannot simply order herself to become infinitely strong.
For people, names are complicated. The target's sense of identity matters. Because Tomura Shigaraki's mind was entangled with All For One and Tenko Shimura, a lethal rule targeting the name “Tomura Shigaraki” failed. This was no universal one-touch boss-kill ability.
Can New Order remove Gearshift's oxygen problem?
Enhancing Izuku's physique is plausible because Star can enhance herself. But that does not prove he could use maximum One For All forever without injury.
Gearshift strains Deku's body and breathing. If New Order really could eliminate his need for oxygen, it might reduce one major drawback. The story never demonstrates such an extensive biological change in a human. Not needing oxygen would not automatically prevent impact injuries or exhaustion.
Likewise, “Deku never gets tired” and “Deku takes no recoil” go beyond the demonstrated limits of physical enhancement. And dedicating one rule to Deku leaves fewer options for controlling the battlefield. Two slots, and everyone wants to install twenty upgrades.
Could Monoma copy New Order?
Neito Monoma temporarily copies another person's Quirk through touch. New Order does not require generations of stored power like One For All, so copying its mechanics sounds possible. But the series never shows Monoma attempting it. We cannot confirm whether rules would survive after his copy expires or whether two users could maintain separate sets of rules.
Monoma also plays a critical role by copying Aizawa's Erasure. It is unsafe to assume multiple copied Quirks can stay active simultaneously and indefinitely. A second admin account might come with an expiration timer.
Two survival routes, very different outcomes
In canon, Shigaraki stole New Order, but Star planted a final rule making it rebel against other Quirks. Many of his powers were destroyed; the official anime synopsis for episode 141 explicitly states this.
If Star avoids that battle and joins Deku directly, the heroes gain an extraordinary ally, while Shigaraki might keep those lost powers. If the sabotage still works and Star survives, the heroes get both benefits. That is the strongest scenario, but it requires a different escape from the original story.
The rejuvenating All For One is another enemy on another front. Star cannot fight everywhere at once. A credible winning combination is less flashy than invincibility: Star creates an opening, Erasure suppresses powers when available, and Deku lands a One For All attack. Shigaraki's modified body remains dangerous even with Quirks suppressed.
Verdict: Star's survival could greatly improve the heroes' odds, especially if Shigaraki is weakened as he was in canon. Otherwise the team gains an admin while the final boss gets his deleted weapons back. If they keep both advantages, All For One may want to file a balance complaint.
