Why a 2014 Legend of Korra Tumblr prediction returned after the October 2026 Seven Havens preview—and why the unopened champagne is the joke.

A Tumblr user confidently planned to open the biggest bottles when Korra and Mako became a couple in the 2014 finale. Twelve years later, an October 2026 preview for Avatar: Seven Havens put the old prediction back on fans’ timelines. The bottles have acquired a better backstory than most wine collections.

The prediction that became a souvenir

On December 17, 2014, avatarskorra wrote, “we popping the BIGGEST bottles when makorra happens tomorrow.” Makorra was the fandom’s name for a possible Korra–Mako romance. The Legend of Korra instead ended by implying a relationship between Korra and Asami. A reblog by tonraq added a sad Pepe image, transforming a triumphant forecast into a spectacularly badly timed party invitation. The archived screenshot preserves the setup.

Why the joke resurfaced in October 2026

On October 21, the Avatar Legends channel released an “An Old World Mover” preview from Avatar: Seven Havens, featuring an older Korra and Asami. Some viewers interpreted their matching-looking necklaces as signs of marriage. The preview itself and a definitive statement about marital status are different kinds of evidence; the clip is embedded here.

The meme’s timing is perfect: it is no longer merely about being wrong on finale night. It is about a prediction sitting in the internet’s storage cupboard while a whole new series arrives.

What people actually said

Know Your Meme’s October 22 account describes @yioshidon pairing the old Tumblr screenshot with frames from the new preview. It also records @violetsoflina wondering how the original “biggest bottles” poster must feel now. These are reported public posts, not comments independently retrieved from X. A 2024 anniversary post had already joked about bottles remaining unopened for a decade.

Original comedy: the reservation desk

Clerk: “Your celebration booking says tomorrow.” Guest: “Correct.” Clerk: “It was entered in 2014.” Guest: “We’re waiting for confirmation.” Clerk: “Would you like to move it to 2038?” Guest: “Please keep the deposit.”

That exchange is invented for this article, not a quotation from social media. The target is overconfident prediction, not anyone’s preferred fictional relationship.

The punchline

Most wrong predictions disappear. This one has been carefully cellared, re-labelled by new episodes, and served to the next generation of fans. It may be the internet’s longest-running unclaimed drinks order.
