Description: A reported delay and “AI-first” instructions have fans worried about a Marvel-and-Star Wars shooter. What did Epic actually confirm?

Epic has publicly endorsed AI-assisted development. The stronger claims—that the team was told to stop writing code by hand and rely on AI workflows for art—come from internal messages described in Bloomberg’s October 12, 2026 report. That is not the same as having seen the finished game.

The story goes back to February 2024, when Disney and Epic announced an interactive entertainment universe connected to Fortnite. Their plans involved Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars, backed by Disney’s announced $1.5 billion investment. That was an official partnership announcement, not a playable reveal of this particular shooter.

Bloomberg has now reported that a shooter featuring Marvel and Star Wars characters slipped from a planned March target, with no new date communicated. The report also describes a push toward “AI-first” production. Epic’s spokesperson said human developers would still lead the creative work while AI accelerated it.

What are players worried about?

On October 12, Reddit commenters worried about inconsistent art and hard-to-maintain code. Others noticed the awkward juxtaposition: tools meant to speed up development are being discussed alongside a delay. Those are reactions to the report, not hands-on verdicts.

A critical distinction matters here. Epic’s public statement describes people directing AI-supported work. Bloomberg’s account describes more aggressive internal instructions. And the original 2024 announcement covers a much broader Disney–Fortnite vision; it does not settle this shooter’s individual release plans.

The useful next step is actual footage: characters moving, combat working, a release window and an explanation of AI’s role. Marvel heroes fighting alongside Star Wars icons could be a delightful mess—in the best sense. Whether it becomes a good game will be decided on-screen, not by a production buzzword.
