Description: CAKE's agreement to distribute all seven seasons of The Dragon Prince raised questions about a Netflix removal. Here's what Wonderstorm still lists, what a distributor does, and why The Dragon King is a separate question.

As of October 19, 2026, there is no announced Netflix exit to infer from the CAKE deal. Wonderstorm's own website continues to direct viewers to Netflix for seasons 1–7. The new arrangement concerns the international distribution of 63 existing episodes. It may open doors to additional outlets, but it does not itself announce where or when those outlets will carry the show.

Why did a distribution announcement sound like a goodbye?

In October 2025, CAKE announced an agreement with Wonderstorm covering seven seasons of the animated fantasy series. A fan discussion posted on October 6 asked whether Netflix would lose the show, whether CAKE was a new streaming service, and whether viewers would need to pay somewhere else. These were real questions in that thread, not evidence that a platform removal had been scheduled.

The confusion is understandable. To a subscriber, production rights, distribution rights and streaming availability all converge on one button: Play. Behind that button, however, they describe different business relationships.

What does CAKE actually do?

CAKE is acting as a distributor, presenting completed programming to broadcasters and platforms. The October 8, 2025 industry announcement described a plan to offer the show's 63 episodes to buyers around the world. A distributor securing new buyers is not the same event as a streamer losing its license. Nor does the agreement mean CAKE has launched a consumer subscription app for the series.

There is also a useful reality check. On October 19, 2026, Wonderstorm's official project page still said seasons 1–7 were streaming and linked directly to Netflix. That establishes the producer's current public guidance. It is not a promise that every territory's catalog will stay unchanged forever; licensing and availability can vary by market.

Does this also secure The Dragon King?

Not automatically. The seven-season distribution agreement concerns the series that already exists. In the same announcement, co-creator Aaron Ehasz spoke positively about bringing both The Dragon Prince and its proposed continuation, The Dragon King, to audiences. That aspiration should not be mistaken for a confirmed streaming home, production order or release date for the new project.

The original adventure follows Callum, Ezran and Rayla as the discovery of a dragon egg creates a chance to bridge the divide between humans and elves in Xadia. Reaching new territories could introduce that world to future fans. Whether broader exposure helps fund another chapter remains an interesting possibility, not an established outcome.

What should viewers watch next?

Check your regional Netflix listing alongside Wonderstorm's project page. For any new outlet, look for a named country, platform and launch date in an actual announcement. If a removal is announced, its territory and deadline will matter much more than the mere presence of a distributor's logo.

Bottom line: The CAKE deal is about finding more places for The Dragon Prince to travel. Wonderstorm still points to Netflix for all seven seasons as of October 19, 2026. A story about crossing borders now has a distribution plan to match; the destinations have yet to be mapped.
