Description: A July 2026 discussion revived the idea of crowdfunding Age of Resistance. Here is what the 2020 cancellation established, what a campaign could achieve, and why the official comics are not a missing second season.

Crowdfunding could demonstrate enthusiasm for another season, but collecting money would not, by itself, authorize production. Netflix released ten episodes in 2019. The Jim Henson Company confirmed in September 2020 that there would be no additional season. As of October 26, 2026, the sources checked for this article contain no official new season order.

Why are fans discussing a fundraiser years later?

Rian, Brea and Deet's rebellion against the Skeksis reaches a major confrontation in episode ten. Yet Netflix's own episode description says the Scientist begins developing a secret weapon. The finale resolves a battle without exhausting the larger story of Thra.

On July 13, 2026, a Reddit discussion asked whether viewers could crowdfund season two if production expense stood in the way. On October 18, another viewer expressed frustration after rewatching the show. These are genuine audience reactions, not evidence of an authorized fundraising campaign, a confirmed budget or Netflix's internal reasoning.

What did the producers actually say in 2020?

A September 21, 2020 report quoted Lisa Henson of The Jim Henson Company confirming there would be no additional season. She also acknowledged that fans wanted to know how this chapter ends and said the company would look for ways to tell that story in the future.

That leaves a creative possibility, not a production contract. Searching for another storytelling format is different from announcing a movie, commissioning episodes or assigning a release date. It matters especially when a fan proposal starts circulating as though it were an official revival.

Could enough donations solve the problem?

In principle, a campaign can show how many supporters are prepared to contribute. A real production would also need authorization from rights holders, a creative team, puppet fabrication and performance, sets, filming, post-production, distribution agreements and a credible budget. These are feasibility requirements, not evidence that negotiations are underway.

The handmade performance of the puppets is central to the show's appeal. Funding a story outline would not automatically recreate its tactile world. The next meaningful milestone would be an announcement identifying authorized producers and a route to viewers, not an unsupported fundraising target.

Don't the official comics already finish the plot?

No. The Jim Henson Company described its twelve-issue Age of Resistance comic series in November 2019 as an official prequel to the Netflix series. Books and comics enrich the history of Thra, but they are not a published replacement for the missing television season. The 1982 film depicts a later period without explaining every step in Rian and Deet's personal journeys.

Bottom line: The 2026 crowdfunding discussion proves that some fans still want more Thra. Only an authorized production announcement could turn that desire into a new screen adventure. A rebellion needs allies, and so does a television production.
