Someone starts crying into your jacket. Do you comfort them, or check whether the tears bead up? Arc'teryx memes have somehow made option two the punchline.
The outdoor brand is associated with expensive technical jackets that make water form droplets and roll away. Online, that familiar rain-jacket demo has become an absurd personality trait: owners supposedly hunt for rain just to show off their gear, and every unexpected splash becomes a product test.
The joke has roots stretching back at least to a December 2021 X post about an Arc'teryx being resistant to tears. On September 19, 2026, a TikTok spoofed jacket owners stepping out into the rain to flex. An October 2 Instagram skit pushed it further: a woman cries onto the jacket, the drops fail to bead, the jacket is treated as a fake, and its owner starts crying too.
The skit works because the mood flips instantly. What begins as an emotional moment turns into an authentication crisis. The person is devastated; the coat has apparently failed its audition.
