Description: A 2026 TikTok animation shows Minecraft's Steve and Backrooms character Pirate Clark tugging Verity between their worlds. The song adapts a video of two dogs fighting over a toy.
The tug-of-war meme comes from a fan animation posted on August 31, 2026. Steve and Pirate Clark pull a grinning yellow-faced character in opposite directions while singing competing claims about where he belongs.
Why does Verity change shape?
Verity is a creepy character from a Minecraft horror story. The animation makes a debate about fictional ownership physical: each pull changes Verity's design to match that world. It's fan-made comedy, not an official canon decision.
Where did the music come from?
Know Your Meme traces the musical template to Dusty Douglas's June 13, 2025 video of two dogs disputing a toy. TikToker @web24535 adapted it on August 31, 2026; the Verity animation passed 400,000 views in roughly three weeks. September brought lip-syncs and slowed versions. A September 20 lip-sync received over 366,000 views in a day. These figures concern specific posts at the time, not worldwide popularity.
How is the joke used?
Put two sides on opposite ends of an argument and let the song turn a tiny dispute into a dramatic custody battle. An invented example: “sleep in” and “go outside” both claim your only free Sunday.
Two dogs wanted a toy. Two universes now want one smiley face. The rope is holding up better than the storyline.
