description: October 18–19 Reddit reactions connected a distorted SpongeBob song to Get Out of My Car, actual animation craft and an exhausted GTA 6 joke.
A warped SpongeBob bounces along to an absurdly cheerful “Tra La La.” Yet a Reddit discussion on October 18–19, 2026 veered into a car confrontation, an argument about artistic effort, and fatigue with GTA 6 jokes. A few seconds of cartoon nonsense apparently require a decade of internet history to unpack.
Where the mashup came from
Know Your Meme traces the combined edit to an October 2 X post by @osmisanidiot. Its music comes from Ethan's Clubhouse, blending the themes of The Banana Splits and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The animated movements draw on a 2019 Calobi Productions cartoon rap battle and PsychicPebbles' 2017 Get Out of My Car. This lineage is based on published research; the original clip was not directly played for this review.
Three real reactions, three different jokes
“GET OUT OF MY CAR NOW.” A Reddit commenter used this line on October 18. It's a callback to the older animation, not an allegation that SpongeBob has been caught driving. A children's jingle has somehow reopened a long-closed vehicle dispute.
Defending the drawings. Another commenter argued that at least the animation was actually drawn, rather than being a stack of PNG character cutouts. SpongeBob looks as if he is melting, but the comments have formed an unexpectedly serious craftsmanship committee.
The GTA 6 joke is getting old. The thread's title uses the familiar “we got X before GTA VI” template. Some replies were more annoyed by that formula than by the video itself. A meme is now being used to complain about a meme used to complain about a meme. The joke has developed a complaints department.
In a separate October 19 Reddit thread, someone simply asked what the clip was referencing. Other users supplied its name. Not everyone arrives with the same archive of obscure animation trivia installed.
Original comedy, not a quoted comment
Officer: “Step out of the car.” SpongeBob: “Tra la la!” Officer: “Where did those moves come from?” SpongeBob: “An animation from 2019.” Officer: “And the music?” SpongeBob: “Another show.” Officer: “So who's driving?” SpongeBob: “The entire internet.”
SpongeBob has lost his shape, but the comment section still knows where every spare part came from.
