Description: Bandai Namco is ending SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada's online service in 2027. Here's what survives of the extraction gameplay, what happens to PvP, and why co-op remains a question.

Yes: SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada is planned to remain an extraction shooter after its online servers close. Bandai Namco says the game will move from PvPvE, where other players can become threats, to an offline PvE extraction experience. The precise list of maps, missions and retained features has not yet been published as of October 21, 2026.

A shutdown with a second life

The development team announced the plan on September 26, 2026; Bandai Namco's North American notice followed on September 28. Online service is scheduled to end after May 2027, with the exact timing expected to be announced around March. October 2026 brings the last planned online content and event. "After May" is a window, not a fixed May 1 shutdown.

In the game, a Drifter ventures onto a dangerous surface in a Cradlecoffin mech alongside a Magus, an AI companion. The loop is to survive enemies, collect resources and extract safely. The current online game adds unpredictable encounters with other Drifters: someone might wave, help, or attack just before you escape.

Bandai Namco specifically calls the replacement an offline PvE extraction shooter. That wording matters. It promises more than a menu of isolated story scenes, but it does not promise that every current online raid, map and reward will work identically.

The split in player reactions

In a September 26 r/Synduality thread asking how everyone felt, one commenter worried that only the campaign might become playable offline. Others welcomed the possibility of keeping the game at all. A separate r/Games discussion included people who found PvP off-putting and now wanted to try the game, plus a question about possible peer-to-peer co-op. These are traceable comments, not evidence of what most players think.

The same change can feel like a loss or an upgrade. For one player, a hostile human ambush at extraction is the whole thrill. For another, that ambush interrupts the part they actually bought the game for: roaming the surface with their Magus. Removing human opponents changes the emotional rhythm even if the collect-and-return loop remains.

Can friends play together, and can saves be kept?

The confirmed destination is an offline PvE game. Neither online co-op nor local co-op has been promised in the announcements reviewed here. Players who need multiplayer should wait for a detailed offline feature list rather than treating co-op as included.

Existing owners are expected to receive the offline update free of charge; the official FAQ also covers disc owners who install the update. Preserving progress requires an explicit online transfer during the designated window. Preparation for local saves is planned for December 2026. Skip the transfer and the offline version starts with a new save. The publisher will explain the exact steps and eligible data before the process opens.

Bottom line: PvP is ending, but the extraction adventure is being preserved in PvE form. The next useful announcement will define how closely that new game resembles today's raids. The wildest enemy on the surface may soon be the one that no longer spawns: another player.
