Description: Xbox Series X players have described crashes at the truck’s camera monitor in Phasmophobia. There is a November update on the calendar, plus a workaround that helped one player.
One Xbox Series X player said Phasmophobia repeatedly crashed when they opened the truck’s camera screen. Kinetic Games has scheduled a major November update with fixes, but has not specifically guaranteed a fix for this camera-related crash.
The truck should be the safe part
The truck is where you watch camera feeds, guide teammates and catch your breath between ghost hunts. If the game crashes as soon as you touch the monitor, the ghost doesn’t even need to come outside.
In comments beneath a September patch announcement on Reddit, an Xbox player reported being unable to use the truck camera without crashing. Someone else mentioned similar trouble on PS5. These are individual experiences, not proof that every console has the same fault. At the time, the developers also listed console crashes among known issues.
A community tip, and an official timetable
Another player suggested switching graphics to Performance mode. The person asking for help later replied that it worked on their machine. That is a useful lead, not a universal or developer-approved repair. Remember your previous setting before trying it.
The update schedule has shifted. In June, the studio aimed to move Phasmophobia to Unity 6 in October. Its October 6 patch notes now put that major update in November, promising a range of bug fixes and improvements. Meanwhile, the Crimson Eye event began on October 8. Players want to join the festivities—not worry that opening a camera will end their session.
What matters next is whether November’s detailed patch notes name the truck-camera problem and whether Xbox owners report a lasting improvement. The haunting is meant to happen inside the house, not on the security screen.
