A Monster Hunter Wilds Route Before Fighting Arch-Tempered Nu Udra

You want to fight the Arch-Tempered octopus.

Nu Udra.

Then you check the requirement and realize that the quest needs rank 100.

You are rank 95.

Only five ranks short.

That small gap feels annoying.

You are no longer in the early-game stage where your rank rises naturally just by progressing through the story.
But if you rush into extreme content like Omega or especially powerful versions of monsters, you can still be defeated quickly.
On a computer, there may also be the extra fear of crashes after quests or when returning to base.

So what should you do from rank 95 to rank 100?

The answer is simple.

Do not force yourself into unstable high-difficulty fights. Repeat hunts you can finish reliably and that give plenty of points toward the next rank.

At rank 95, you are already close.
You do not need a heroic challenge.
You need a clean route.

Arch-Tempered Nu Udra Requires Rank 100

First, the basic requirement.

Arch-Tempered Nu Udra requires rank 100 or higher.

Guide information states that Arch-Tempered Nu Udra is available through special hunting requests and appears when you accept the special hunting request at rank 100 or higher.
Famitsu also describes the ★10 Arch-Tempered Nu Udra special hunting request as requiring rank 100 or higher, taking place in the Oilwell Basin, and requiring you to hunt Arch-Tempered Nu Udra.

So if you are rank 95, the problem is not your gear, the way you combine your equipment, or your skill.

You simply have not met the requirement yet.

The first step is clear:

Reach rank 100.

Rank 95 Means You Only Need Five More Ranks

Rank 95 is very close.

If you were rank 50, you would need a longer plan for repeated hunts.
But from rank 95 to rank 100, this is not a long grind.
It is a short cleanup.

At this stage, your mindset should be:

  • You do not need to fight the strongest monster
  • You do not need the most impressive quest
  • You should avoid quests where you are often defeated
  • You should choose quests you can clear consistently
  • If a special hunting request gives plenty of rank-raising points, prioritize it

In other words, rank 95 to rank 100 is not a difficulty challenge.

It is a rank adjustment.

Check Special Hunting Requests First

When you want points that raise your rank, check special hunting requests first.

Some special hunting requests give more points that raise your rank than normal.

For example, the special hunting request “Eldrich Enigma” is described as having points that raise your rank as its main reward. It requires rank 31 or higher and has you hunt a Tempered Xu Wu.

At rank 95, you can accept this type of quest without issue.

Open the list of special hunting requests and look for quests that match these conditions:

  • points that raise your rank are a main reward
  • the monster is one you can defeat consistently
  • you are not defeated often
  • the quest can be cleared quickly
  • it also gives useful side rewards such as armor spheres, decorations, or weapon fragments

Near rank 100, the fastest route is usually not the hardest quest.

It is the quest you can clear without failing.

Repeatedly Hunting Stronger Versions of Monsters Is Also Fine

If there is no ideal special hunting request available, repeatedly hunting stronger versions of monsters is also a good option.

Stronger versions of monsters begin appearing out in the hunting area later in progression, and a higher rank makes higher-difficulty quests more likely.
Several hunts of stronger versions can also give useful rewards such as Tempered Hunting Certificates, decorations, and old weapon fragments.

That means you can raise your rank while also collecting materials.

But the key is not to pick the strongest monster.

The key is to pick a monster you can defeat consistently.

Your goal from rank 95 to rank 100 is to unlock Arch-Tempered Nu Udra.

If you spend too much time being defeated against a harder target, you lose the whole reason for repeating those hunts.

Leave Omega for Later

You do not need to return to Omega during this rank-raising effort.

Omega is a special Final Fantasy XIV collaboration encounter. It is not just a normal Monster Hunter fight.
If you are being defeated by Rocket Punch in the first ten seconds, the right move is not necessarily to keep forcing attempts.

Especially on a computer, if you have been dealing with issues like:

  • the game suddenly closing or the picture disappearing
  • the game suddenly closing after a hunt
  • the game suddenly closing after returning to base
  • graphics settings recently lowered to minimum

then it makes more sense to stabilize first.

Do easier hunts you can repeat.
Reach rank 100.
Then return to harder content.

That is not running away.

That is route planning.

Recommended Route from Rank 95 to Rank 100

A simple route looks like this.

1. Eat at camp first

Eat before you go.

It is easy to forget, but Monster Hunter is a game where food matters.
Before high-difficulty quests or repeated hunts, the difference in health, energy for movement, and effects from food matters.

Go to the main camp or a tent and eat.
If you are already out in the hunting area, use the portable cooking option.

Just eat before leaving.

2. Check special hunting requests

Open the list of available hunting requests.
Look at special hunting requests.
Search for quests that give plenty of points that raise your rank.

If a quest like “Eldrich Enigma” is available, it can be a strong candidate.

3. Pick something stable

Do not automatically choose the hardest quest.

At rank 95, your purpose is not to prove anything.
Your purpose is to reach rank 100.

A quest you can clear easily several times is better than a harder quest that drains you.

4. Use stronger versions of monsters if needed

If special hunting requests are not ideal, hunt stronger versions of monsters.

Choose monsters that also give useful materials or decorations.
But avoid targets where you are often defeated.

5. Return to Arch-Tempered Nu Udra at rank 100

Once you reach rank 100, check the list of special hunting requests for Arch-Tempered Nu Udra.

That is where the real fight begins.

But even then, do not rush in immediately.

Eat, restock items, check fire resistance, equipment effects that help you stay alive, healing items, and utility tools first.

Raising Your Rank Is About Stability, Not Bravery

A common mistake in raising your rank is choosing the strongest enemy.

If you can defeat it quickly, that works.

But if you are defeated, take too long, burn through items, lose focus, or risk a crash, then it is not efficient.

From rank 95 to rank 100, you do not need a flashy challenge.

You need a few clean completions.

The best quest is not always the hardest one.

The best quest is the one you actually finish.

Conclusion: Reach Rank 100 First, Then Return to the Octopus

You want to fight Arch-Tempered Nu Udra.
But you are rank 95.

The solution is simple:

Gain five more ranks.

To do that:

  • check special hunting requests
  • prioritize quests with plenty of points that raise your rank
  • pick stable targets
  • repeatedly hunt stronger versions of monsters if needed
  • leave Omega for later
  • remember to eat and restock
  • return to Arch-Tempered Nu Udra at rank 100

Rank 95 to rank 100 is not the place to smash your head into extreme content.

It is the final rank adjustment before the real fight.

Do not rush in and get defeated.

Complete hunts reliably, reach rank 100, and then go get burned by the octopus properly.
