Description: The explanation behind the 20 October 2026 This Morning mix-up involving Bridgerton actor Luke Thompson and the film Misbehaviour.
What happened?
On ITV's This Morning, Knightley said she had never worked with Thompson. He gently reminded her that both appeared in the 2020 British film Misbehaviour. She immediately recognised the title and they laughed.
Why did she forget?
Sharing a film credit does not mean sharing a filming day. Thompson said their scenes were shot on different days. Knightley said she was in early pregnancy, felt extremely unwell and recalled little of the shoot. Those are their own explanations, not evidence of a feud.
What is the film, and why is it funny?
Misbehaviour follows protests around the 1970 Miss World competition in London. Knightley plays campaigner Sally Alexander and Thompson plays politician Peter Hain. Their roles are recorded in the credits. They were promoting the London play The Lives of Others, about surveillance in East Germany. A routine career question became an unexpected contradiction: one confident denial, one polite correction. The forgotten colleague even helped explain the mistake.
Why now?
The interview aired 20 October; English-language reports followed on 21–22 October. ITV confirms the appearance. Dialogue details come from reporting, not a claimed viewing of the entire programme.
Bottom line
They were colleagues on paper, but not on the same filming day. Their new stage production finally gives them a shared working memory.
