Description: The “Check the Snails” meme turns a snack reviewer's catchy intro into singing AI snails. Here's the original audio, the September 2026 edits, and the joke behind the misheard words.

“Check the Snails” is a deliberately misheard version of “Jak does snacks,” the repeated lyric in TikTok snack reviewer JakDoesSnacks' intro. Meme makers took the mistaken words literally: if the song sounds like it is asking about snails, why not make two snails sing it?

The actual words come from a snack reviewer

JakDoesSnacks posts food reviews with an AI-generated introduction. A cartoon version of the host dances among snacks while the theme repeats his name. An early documented video appeared on March 12, 2026. The lyric announces the channel's premise; it was never originally a song about garden creatures.

The joke depends on hearing a familiar rhythm as a different English phrase. Once “Jak does snacks” becomes “Check the snails,” the nonsensical new subject suddenly seems to fit the beat.

How the snails took over

A September 11, 2026 TikTok edit paired the theme with an AI-generated picture of two snails and on-screen misheard lyrics. Another edit on September 18 animated the snails as singers. Instead of merely pointing out the misheard words, the videos build an entire tiny cast around them.

The intro also inspired other remixes. An August 19 edit replaced the host with Baldi, a character from a video game, while a September 21 post recreated the intro dance in real life. The sound, character swap, and choreography each became reusable pieces.

How to use the meme

Pair the intro sound with snail imagery and the “Check the Snails” caption, or recreate its distinctive dance. The payoff is the commitment to a ridiculous interpretation: a song that exists to introduce a snack reviewer now sounds like an urgent assignment for a pair of mollusks.

You came for a snack rating. The snails apparently have an appointment.
