Description: Homer Simpson's coffee dance has acquired a strangely competitive soundtrack. Learn where the lyric came from, how it was remixed in 2026, and why the combination works.

Homer Simpson dances happily while holding a cup of coffee. Meanwhile, a voice announces that it will defeat someone in Super Smash Bros. That wonderfully mismatched pairing is the “I'll Kick Your Butt in Smash Bros.” meme: a Haminations lyric remixed for cheerful cartoon dance clips.

The original song was an introduction

Haminations uploaded the animated song “Who I Am” on December 21, 2019. He is introducing himself, but partway through the song he confidently boasts about beating someone in Smash Bros. It's an unexpectedly combative moment in an otherwise personal introduction.

On September 11, 2026, TikTok user @imquentinnever uploaded a remix of that section. The short, emphatic audio became a soundtrack for dancing edits and lip-sync videos.

Where did Homer's coffee come in?

On October 4, @12wingost paired the remix with Homer dancing and holding coffee. The scene comes from season 35, episode 17 of The Simpsons, where the dancing evokes Austin Powers. With the new audio, Homer appears to be issuing a gaming challenge without interrupting his coffee break.

Another Homer edit followed on October 10. On October 11, a creator used the same sound with Sonic and Tails dancing in the Sonic movie. The format works with different characters; the essential ingredient is the contrast between exuberant dancing and an overconfident boast.

Ready for battle, still holding a drink

To use the meme, match the remix to a character dancing as though life couldn't be better. The song turns the happy moment into a bizarre victory celebration, even though no match has started.

Homer hasn't picked up a controller. He's already dancing like the winner, though. Hopefully he'll put the coffee down before the first round.
