Description: Looking for Hades II on disc for PS5 or Xbox? Here is Supergiant's current answer, why Switch has a cartridge, and what collectors should watch for next.

There is no announced physical edition of Hades II for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S as of October 20, 2026. Supergiant Games says in its official FAQ that it has no plans for physical editions on those platforms at this time. The Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 cartridge, by contrast, has already been released.[1]

Three launches, two ways to buy

Hades II follows Melinoë, the Princess of the Underworld, as she confronts Chronos. Its full release arrived on PC and Nintendo Switch systems on September 25, 2025. A standard physical game card for Switch and Switch 2 followed on November 20, 2025. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions launched on April 14, 2026, with additional content and improvements also made available to existing players.[1][2]

That timeline explains the apparent contradiction: the PlayStation and Xbox games are out, but the boxes some players want to collect have not been announced. Searching retail shelves can make an available game look strangely absent.

Why the question matters to players

In a September 12, 2026 discussion on r/HadesTheGame, players explicitly asked whether physical PlayStation and Xbox releases existed. Others were frustrated that Nintendo received a full cartridge while their preferred console had no equivalent. Some recalled that the original Hades eventually reached more platforms in physical form and hoped the sequel might follow.[3]

Those are individual reactions, not evidence of a majority view. And the first game's distribution history is not a release schedule for the sequel. For a collector, though, a disc can mean a displayable edition, a gift, or simply a preferred way to build a library; “it's already available digitally” answers a different question.

Does “no plans at this time” leave the door open?

It leaves future decisions unspecified, but provides no release date, preorder window, or promise for a PS5 or Xbox disc. It would be misleading either to declare a physical edition inevitable or to claim the studio has permanently ruled one out.[1]

Players who want to start now can use the digital releases. Those who specifically want a boxed copy can follow the studio's FAQ and official announcements instead of treating third-party placeholder listings as confirmation. The Switch cartridge is a separate platform product, not a disc compatible with PlayStation or Xbox.

Bottom line: the sequel is here; the shelf space is waiting

Hades II reached PS5 and Xbox in April 2026. What remains uncertain is whether those versions will ever receive physical packaging. The funny part is that Chronos is the villain of the game, but collectors are fighting a much less mythical enemy: a release date for a box that has yet to be announced.
