Description: A user lost access to a familiar server in September 2026. Discord also acknowledged a device-specific age-status bug. Here's how to tell an access restriction from a ban.

Short answer: An age-check screen is not evidence that the server owner kicked you out. Discord says a bug that misreported age status and blocked some age-restricted servers was resolved on September 23, 2026.

On September 23, an Android user posted that a server they'd been chatting in suddenly stopped letting them enter. The link led to a page explaining why Discord asks about age—but they couldn't find anywhere to actually confirm theirs. Imagine being handed directions to the door while the door itself has vanished.

Discord's help page, updated September 24, describes a related technical problem: older app versions could show the wrong age-group status, and some mobile devices couldn't open age-restricted servers. Discord marked that issue resolved on September 23 at 8:32 p.m. PST and recommended closing and refreshing the app. That does not prove the Reddit user's specific problem had the same cause.

There's another distinction worth knowing. An 18+ server has a server-wide restriction; an 18+ channel may sit inside an otherwise ordinary server. If your age group isn't confirmed as adult, those spaces may be unavailable. But Discord says ordinary DMs, voice calls and servers without age restrictions remain usable without manual age confirmation.

Update Discord, restart it, then check User Settings → Account Status. If it asks you to confirm your age, use the in-app flow. Discord explicitly says it will not ask for that confirmation through an email or text message. A random DM demanding your ID is not the helpful doorman it claims to be.

Bottom line: A locked age-restricted server doesn't, by itself, mean a kick or an account ban. The September bug was fixed; a particular server's rules or your account status still need checking separately.
