CoinChain guide: copper, silver and gold flip directions and rebirth changes

Understand why CoinChain chains stop: copper spreads orthogonally, silver diagonally, and early gold has no outgoing flip.

In the early game, position copper beside coins above, below, left or right, and silver beside diagonal neighbors. Do not rely on gold as an outgoing trigger yet. A heads-up flip can propagate to nearby coins. In the current build, holding a coin displays a preview of where that propagation will go.

Where to play and what counts as progress

Play the free official CoinChain browser prototype. Flick a coin, watch the resulting chain, then rearrange your board to improve the next attempt and its multiplier. The developer does not describe a fixed final stage or ending. This is a score-and-growth guide, not a fabricated ending walkthrough.

What each coin does at the start

Coin Direction reported by a player Practical placement
Copper Orthogonally adjacent: up, down, left, right Place it where a cross-shaped cluster can continue the chain
Silver Diagonally adjacent Look for diagonal links that copper cannot reach
Gold No outgoing flip initially Do not assume it will relay the chain before upgrades

A player spelled out these symbols in the game's comments, and the developer acknowledged the explanation. The distinction matters: gold may be flipped itself, but early gold does not flip other coins. Because the prototype changes, prefer the live preview over an old static diagram.

A repeatable approach to larger chains

  1. Read the colors and symbols first. Identify orthogonal and diagonal routes rather than arranging everything in a straight line.
  2. Hold to inspect the spread. The developer added a hold-highlight in the October 26 build to make the propagation visible while held.
  3. Rearrange before flicking. Put copper where its four directions have useful neighbors, and use silver to bridge diagonal gaps. This is a deduction from the reported rules, not a tested record-setting layout.
  4. Flick one coin and watch for heads. The official rule says the chain spreads when a coin lands heads-up; do not assume every toss produces the same outcome.
  5. Compare the next result. If the chain ends, inspect the last coin's outgoing directions. Use the current screen to judge when an expansion or rebirth becomes available rather than relying on old price tables.

What changes after rebirth?

A player reported that later rebirth progression lets gold affect the coin to its left and then to its right, while copper eventually reaches all adjacent coins. The developer thanked them for documenting the changes. The exact rebirth numbers for each unlock were not established, so re-check the in-game indicators after upgrading.

The developer also confirmed that a multiplier soft cap around rebirth 10 and retention of Peak and Past 10s records across rebirths were intentional for that build. An earlier easy rebirth trick was addressed by tightening the rebirth gate; old shortcuts may no longer work.

Troubleshooting

Problem Check
Copper misses a diagonal neighbor Early copper only reaches orthogonal neighbors
Silver does not reach the coin directly beside it Early silver spreads diagonally
Gold ends the chain Early gold has no outgoing flip; later upgrades can change that
You cannot predict the chain Hold to see the highlight before committing
A coin gets stuck after right-clicking while dragging This was reported and the developer says it is fixed in the current build

FAQ, version notes and sources

How do I win? The developer describes bigger chains and multipliers, not a definitive ending. Is there one best layout? Not one verified here: board arrangement and rebirth effects change. Is tapping identical to clicking? The official page does not specify device-by-device inputs, so those controls remain unverified.
