Description: Arcane ended with Season 2, but a Fortiche cinematic featuring Mel fueled hopes for a Noxus series. Here is what Riot and the animation studio have actually announced, and what remains fan speculation in October 2026.

A Noxus-set Arcane successor has not been formally announced as a television series as of October 17, 2026. Welcome to Noxus is a cinematic, not a trailer for a newly commissioned show. Riot has discussed developing other film and television stories in Runeterra, which is a real opening for future projects—but not a release announcement for this particular one.

Why did everyone read it as a trailer?

Arcane followed Vi, Jinx, and the conflict between Piltover and Zaun. In a June 11, 2024 developer update, Riot said the creative team had planned a specific ending: Season 2 would close Arcane. In the same update, the company said other television and film projects were at an early stage. A finished series and a wider storytelling ambition can coexist.

Then Fortiche, the studio behind Arcane, brought Mel into the empire of Noxus in Welcome to Noxus. The painterly animation, recognizable character, and unfamiliar political landscape look exactly like the ingredients for a new season. That visual continuity explains the excitement. It does not establish a production order.

The sentence from Fortiche that changes the answer

In its March 25, 2025 project write-up, Fortiche explicitly described Welcome to Noxus as not a trailer for a new series. The team discussed creating the distinct landscapes of Noxus and Freljord, character designs, and a fresh visual direction for its collaboration with Riot. The piece expands Runeterra on screen without promising an episodic follow-up.

The uncertainty is not imaginary. In an April 24, 2026 fan thread, someone asked whether Fortiche was working on a Noxus project; replies separated known studio projects from unconfirmed show theories. That is evidence of a real question being asked, not a poll of the entire fandom.

What would count as confirmation?

Look for a first-party announcement naming a series, its format, production commitment, and eventually a distributor or release window. The 2024 early-development statement and the 2025 cinematic explanation are meaningful, but neither supplies those details for a Noxus show. Claims about a 2027 or 2029 premiere should be treated as predictions unless Riot, Fortiche, or a distribution partner dates a specific project.

Bottom line: There is a world beyond Arcane worth watching. For now, Welcome to Noxus is a spectacular doorway-shaped painting—not proof that a new television door has opened.
