Description: Roblox's updated terms take effect on November 1, 2026. Here's what they say about parental consent for under-18s, why players are nervous, and where ID checks actually enter the picture.
Roblox's updated terms require a parent or legal guardian to accept the rules on behalf of users under 18. The published documents explain parental account linking, too. But they don't lay out an automatic account-deletion process for teens who cannot arrange that link by November 1. Consent, linking and age verification deserve separate answers.
Why an ordinary update feels like an account emergency
On October 9, a RobloxHelp user asked what would happen when the new terms arrived. They were 16 or 17 and said getting a parent to make an account and verify their age would be difficult. Another commenter wondered whether everybody would need to upload ID just to play, or whether only certain features might be affected.
That's a very different worry from grumbling about another Terms of Use screen. A Roblox account can hold years of outfits, favorite experiences, friends and memories. Players are asking what happens to their little corner of the platform while adults sort out the paperwork.
What Roblox actually says
The official update names November 1, 2026 as the effective date. Its section on users under 18 says parents or legal guardians must accept the terms on the minor's behalf and allow them to use the service. A separate section describes Parent Linked Accounts, which let adults supervise and manage settings.
Roblox's parental-linking help page explains that an adult creating an account with parental privileges verifies their age with government-issued ID or a credit card before linking accounts. That's an adult-verification step for that feature, not a blanket instruction for every child to hand over an ID card.
The unanswered practical question is how Roblox will present and enforce those requirements for existing teen accounts across different regions. The update itself is firm about consent; individual account outcomes will depend on the applicable instructions and circumstances. A Reddit reply can offer reassurance, but it cannot set platform policy.
What to check before November
Look at the birth date on your account, read Roblox's official terms and check Settings → Parental Controls for the linking instructions if a parent can help. Use official Roblox pages for any verification. Keep identity documents away from random messages, third-party forms and strangers promising an instant fix. Roblox Support is the place to ask about an account-specific obstacle.
November 1 is the date new rules begin, not an announced mass-deletion day. Your best preparation is understanding which step you actually need—not letting a rumor decide the fate of your avatar.
