Business AI stopped working? Compare the six-hour and billing-cycle allowances, Free and Plus trial responses, premium model credits, and Notion’s 2025 unlimited announcement.
Answer: Business and Enterprise include Notion AI, but some features have two simultaneous usage windows: six hours and the monthly billing cycle. A short-window reset does not restore a depleted monthly allowance. The May 13, 2025 announcement said “unlimited”; the current dedicated help page provides the operating rules.[1][2]
What each plan actually includes
| Plan | USD example* | AI access | Reset / availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0/member/month | Limited complimentary AI responses | No universal recurring trial reset published |
| Plus | $10/member/month | Limited AI trial | Moving from Free does not refill trial usage |
| Business | $20/member/month | Six-hour and monthly allowances | Short-window refresh; monthly at billing-cycle start |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Applicable feature allowances | Check workspace and contract |
These are examples of USD prices displayed on the official page checked October 18, 2026; monthly versus annual billing, currency, taxes and workspace terms can change the bill. Free and Plus provide a trial, not the same recurring AI allowance as Business. Creating or editing text, AI blocks, database autofill, Notion Mail answers and pressing “Try again” can consume complimentary responses. The current help does not state one guaranteed response count for every account. Notion explicitly says a Free-to-Plus upgrade does not replenish trial usage.[3][4][5]
Why six hours of waiting may not help
Personal Notion Agent chat, image generation and page translation are among the metered features. If only the six-hour allowance is reached, wait for that window to refresh. If the monthly allowance is exhausted, access returns at the next billing cycle unless an admin authorizes paid credits. Both meters appear under Settings → Notion AI → Usage. No universal midnight or UTC reset clock is stated in the public help.[1]
Separate meters: meeting notes, images and premium models
AI Meeting Notes has its own ten-hour daily cap. Custom Agents and Workers use Notion credits, as do premium models even when selected inside Notion Agent; an admin must enable those models. Image generation also varies by billing route: account-team-managed workspaces have a documented rolling limit of ten generations or edits per 24 hours and thirty per 30 days, rather than the in-product billing description. Treat those as contract-specific conditions, not a worldwide image quota.[1][6][7]
What happened to “unlimited” in 2025?
The official May 13, 2025 release announced unlimited Notion AI for Business and Enterprise. Today’s feature-specific allowance guide documents six-hour and monthly limits plus temporary pauses. The more specific current guide should govern a present-day decision. The exact date those two windows took effect was not established by the official pages checked, so the 2025 launch date should not be mistaken for the restriction date.[1][2]
Credit costs and how to continue
Admins can allow credit spending after the included allowance is exhausted; this is off by default. Notion credits are a separate Business/Enterprise purchase: monthly credits cost $10 per 1,000 and do not roll over; annual credits cost $13 per 1,000 and expire at subscription renewal. Custom Agents have used credits since May 4, 2026.[1][8][9]
Conclusion
Bottom line: If Business AI pauses, check both the six-hour and monthly meters. For premium models or automated agents, check the Notion credits dashboard and admin settings separately. “AI included” is not the same as unlimited use of every AI action.
