Description: Sega canceled Super Game in May 2026. Did that take the Jet Set Radio revival with it? The company's own release roadmap and fan reactions give a more useful answer than the headline.
Short answer: As of October 19, 2026, Sega still lists Jet Set Radio among its upcoming games. Super Game was discontinued, but the Jet Set Radio project remained on Sega's May 2026 roadmap. Its final title, platforms and release date were still to be announced.
Why one cancellation sounded like two
Jet Set Radio has a particular promise: skating through a stylized city, spraying graffiti and moving to a soundtrack that feels inseparable from the streets. Fans have waited years to see what a modern revival could do with that identity. When Sega announced the end of a major game initiative, the natural fear was that the long-awaited comeback had quietly gone with it.
The confusion is understandable. Super Game was Sega's ambitious initiative for a large-scale online experience, and discussion of Sega's broader plans often placed the classic-series revivals nearby. A corporate umbrella and a named game can become the same thing in a fast-moving headline. They are not interchangeable in the financial documents.
What Sega actually put on paper
In its presentation dated May 12, 2026, Sega Sammy explicitly said it had decided to cancel Super Game. It also described a strategic shift: lower priority for free-to-play development, with more than 100 people already reassigned to full-price games built around established franchises.
Crucially, the same presentation's upcoming-release schedule still named Jet Set Radio, alongside Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe and Streets of Rage. Jet Set Radio appeared with its title and release date marked TBD. This is evidence that the revival remained in the announced pipeline at that point—not a guaranteed launch contract or a secret release window. Nor does the staffing change prove that those developers joined the Jet Set Radio team specifically.
Fans were asking exactly this
In a May 12, 2026 Reddit discussion, one commenter guessed that the canceled initiative might have been the free-to-play Crazy Taxi or Jet Set Radio project. Another worried that, after waiting so long, Jet Set Radio would be the unlucky casualty. Other replies pointed to the upcoming-games list and noted that the two revivals were still named there. Those are identifiable reactions, not evidence of a fan-wide consensus.
The useful distinction is between an official decision, a fan's understandable inference and a future prediction. Sega confirmed the first; the documents counter the second; the third remains open.
What would count as the next real update?
Watch for a proper game title, gameplay, platform list or dated release window from Sega. A new trailer would tell players far more about the skating, graffiti and music than a restructuring slide ever could. Until then, the roadmap is a reason to keep the project on the radar, not to preorder an imaginary date.
Bottom line: Sega removed the Super Game sign from the building; it did not remove Jet Set Radio from the published plans. The wheels have not reached the starting line yet, but the game has not been officially swept off the street.
