You made dinner. It tastes good. Apparently, that calls for an anime girl beaming at the stove and bobbing along to music. The meme known as “How It Feels to Cook a Yummy Meal As a Boy” turns the tiny triumph of feeding yourself into a ridiculously joyful moment.

The starting point was an October 27, 2025 X post featuring Nao Yorihime from Yosuga no Sora cooking with a smile. Its caption described the feeling of making a yummy meal “as a boy,” complete with the wonderfully unnecessary tag “#Male.” The joke isn't that cooking is unusual. It's how proudly the post presents a perfectly ordinary pleasure.

An animated TikTok version appeared on August 31, 2026, with Nao bouncing her head to music. In September, people started redrawing the scene with other characters and switching the caption. One Bleach edit starring Ichigo even changed the food from “yummy” to “horrendous.” The format can celebrate a successful dinner or roast a disaster on a plate.

You can spend an hour cooking and then express your achievement with a few seconds of a cartoon character dancing. That's probably the correct amount of ceremony for not burning the rice.
