Description: GTA VI still has a November 19, 2026 release date. Here is what Rockstar’s October launch trailer, preorders and November 12 preload actually tell us about another delay.

Short answer: As of October 22, 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI is still officially scheduled for November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar listed a launch trailer on October 15, and Take-Two has published concrete preorder and preload arrangements. That is stronger evidence of a launch plan than a rumor, although marketing activity cannot make a future date infallible.[1][2][3]

Why the last-minute nerves are real

The game was once aimed at fall 2025. Its release then moved to May 26, 2026, and later to November 19. When Rockstar announced the second move on November 6, 2025, it said the additional months would help it deliver the expected level of polish.[1] Players are not inventing the delay history; they lived through it.

A discussion in r/GTA on October 19 captured the tension. One commenter wondered what would happen if the game slipped again. Others mentioned booking time off, while another brought up the late delay of Cyberpunk 2077.[4] These are individual fan reactions, not a survey of the community. They do, however, explain why even a launch trailer does not automatically settle the conversation.

What is different this close to release?

Take-Two’s June 24 announcement opened preorders on June 25 and specified the launch platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It listed the US standard edition at $79.99 and said digital buyers would be able to preload from November 12. The announcement also described the physical edition as a box containing a download code, so buyers should verify the format on their local storefront before assuming there is a game disc.[2]

Then, on October 15, Rockstar’s Newswire listed a Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer.[3] Preorders, a named preload date and late-stage marketing now all point to November 19. None is a contractual guarantee that plans cannot change, but together they provide more to assess than anonymous predictions.

What should you watch next?

Use Rockstar’s Newswire, Take-Two announcements and the release date shown by your own retailer or console store. November 12 is the next especially useful checkpoint because it is the published preload date. Even a successful preload would not by itself prove that every region will unlock at the same hour or that online services will run flawlessly.

The game’s confirmed story premise already offers something more interesting than another countdown: Jason and Lucia are caught in a conspiracy across Leonida after a job goes wrong, with modern-day Vice City at its heart.[2] That is the adventure players are trying to plan their time around.

Verdict: the schedule has evidence behind it, not a crystal ball

November 19 remains the official date, supported by preorder details, an upcoming preload and an October launch-trailer announcement. The previous delays justify caution; they do not constitute proof of a third. For anyone arranging a day off, the most practical move is to keep checking official notices rather than treating each viral prediction as a new release calendar. Vice City has a departure date. The boarding gate is the part everyone is waiting to see open.[1][2][3][4]
