Futurama's regular season run has stopped for now, but the show is not out of stories. Three extended specials are in production, starting with a Christmas-themed adventure in 2027. A Season 15 order has not been announced.
Here's where the confusion comes from. The Season 14 finale arrived on September 28, 2026, carrying the gloriously unsubtle title “Final Ending: The Last Conclusion.” When a show puts final and last in the same title, viewers can be forgiven for taking the hint. Except Futurama has treated “the end” like a recurring guest character for years.
In a September 29 interview with Variety, creator Matt Groening explained that Hulu has no current plans to commission another standard season. That is a concrete update. It is not the same as saying the property has been permanently shelved. The three longer episodes are already moving forward.
The first special will bring back Robot Santa, that notoriously alarming version of holiday cheer. Groening also teased answers to mysteries planted earlier in the series, without identifying which ones. Anyone declaring that a specific plotline will be resolved is jumping ahead of the evidence.
Fans discussing the news asked whether this is really the end and wondered if successful specials might lead to more episodes. That's a possibility people are discussing, not a renewal announcement. A particularly Futurama problem: nobody knows whether to plan a farewell party or save the decorations for the next one.
The official Hulu press page confirms the Season 14 release and identifies Disney+ as the international streaming outlet. It does not turn speculation about Season 15 into a schedule. Three specials: planned. First special: Christmas 2027. Another regular season: unconfirmed.
