Description: Radeon owners are asking whether AMD has stopped supporting its graphics drivers. Adrenalin 26.9.2 is documented in September, while October's ROCm package serves a different purpose. Here's what those releases do—and don't—tell us.
AMD has not stopped publishing Adrenalin drivers. The company's official notes for the optional gaming driver 26.9.2 were updated on September 29, 2026. It also documented an Adrenalin package for ROCm 10.1 on October 5. That second release targets ROCm workloads, so it should not be mistaken for a new gaming-feature rollout.
Why are Radeon owners worried?
In an October 13 discussion on r/radeon, a frustrated poster suggested that the last official driver had arrived in August and asked whether support for newer GPUs was effectively being abandoned. The post also complained about the wait for features such as AFMF 3 and multi-frame generation. Those are the poster's concerns, not an AMD announcement.
The distinction matters. A driver can exist on AMD's website while the particular fix or feature someone wants remains out of reach. From the player's chair, one more version number is cold comfort if the game still stutters. A release calendar and a satisfactory gaming experience are different scoreboards.
What AMD actually published
The 26.9.2 notes, last updated September 29, list new game support for titles including Gears of War: E-Day and CONTROL Resonant. They also describe fixes for certain driver timeouts, including one affecting HITMAN World of Assassination on RX 9000 graphics. The same document flags a possible crash or timeout with Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. In other words, the release notes show both ongoing work and unfinished problems.
The October 5 package is labeled “Adrenalin Edition for ROCm 10.1.” ROCm is AMD's computing software platform, used for tasks such as AI development. It has its own compatibility list and release notes. Treating that October package as the direct successor to the gaming-focused 26.9.2 would mix two different tracks.
What should players watch next?
September's official record directly contradicts the claim that all formal releases stopped in August. What remains uncertain is when the specific features requested in the Reddit post will arrive. AMD's next relevant gaming-driver notes—not a rumored calendar—are the place to check supported titles, fixed bugs, known issues and new features.
A version number proves that software shipped. A game running smoothly is what players actually came for. That gap is the real story behind the anxiety.
