What you can propose

Coupons and reader perks: a discount or perk for our readers on a product, place to stay or service we write about, paid by commission (or a fixed fee). It appears as one line after the article, and only when it fits the article. We never build pages that only list coupons.

Sponsorship: a placement for a fixed period, labelled "Sponsored", on the whole site, a topic, an article, a feature or the newsletter. See Sponsorship.

Coverage and tie-ups / tips and invitations: paid coverage, where you cover the costs, and free tips with no promise of publication are handled by two separate forms. See Coverage, tie-ups and tips.

Business use of content and data: republishing articles, using the translated versions, feeds, data or research use. Tell us the purpose and scale and we will discuss it case by case.

Editorial independence

Partnerships and fees never change an article's conclusions, ratings, rankings or related links. A sponsor decides only where its placement appears.

Review before publication is limited to facts (opening hours, prices, names and so on). We do not change wording or ratings, or remove critical points, on request.

How advertising is labelled

Following Japan's rules against stealth marketing, anything advertised, sponsored or based on an invitation carries a clear label such as "PR" or "Sponsored" where readers will notice it. For English-speaking readers we also follow the US FTC's endorsement guides.

Links that can earn us money carry rel=sponsored. We cannot accept requests to remove the label.

Standard terms

Coupon: a reader discount or perk combined with a commission (a rate or a fixed amount). We agree an expiry date and regions, and the line disappears automatically when it expires.

Sponsorship: a fixed fee for an agreed period, scope and "Sponsored" label. Clicks, bookings and other results are not guaranteed.

Coverage: the client pays the production fee and the actual costs, such as travel, lodging, admission and meals the plan needs.

Licensing: discussed per use (republishing, translations, feeds, data, research). We do not publish a price list; we quote after hearing the details.

What we do not accept

Placements that hide that they are advertising, articles that guarantee results or rankings, unsupported claims about effects, paid positions in comparisons, and pages that only list coupons.

We are paid by invoice (bank transfer) or a Stripe payment link. We do not accept payment through person-to-person money transfer apps.

What happens to your message

Your reply address is used only to reply and is never published. Messages are deleted from the inbox after we read them, and automatically within 90 days at the latest. See our privacy policy.

Please do not send passwords, payment details or anyone else's confidential information.
