Haunted Chocolatier remains in development as of October 17, 2026. Creator ConcernedApe shared another progress report on August 30. There is no announced release date, and 2030 is not an official launch year.[1]

Why are people worried?

The game was revealed in 2021, yet its release still has no date. Meanwhile, Stardew Valley is getting update 1.7. In January 2026, Eric Barone addressed the fear that he might abandon his chocolate-shop game and move its content into Stardew Valley. He said the projects are separate games, built independently, and that he intends to finish Haunted Chocolatier.[1]

The 2030 rumor came from a 2025 question about whether the game might launch within five years. Barone said he hoped so. A hope is not a release schedule.[1]

What changed in 2026?

In June, Barone described repeatedly refining the chocolate recipe book interface. He wants a frequently used screen to require fewer clicks, present information clearly and feel satisfying. In August, he said he was enjoying the unfinished game after recent additions. He shares relatively few screenshots because unfinished systems may change.[1]

He explained in September 2025 that a small team helps with Stardew Valley 1.7 while he spends most of his time on Haunted Chocolatier. The update might slow the new project a little; it does not mean development has stopped.[2]

What about fan predictions?

In an April 15, 2026 discussion, players speculated that Haunted Chocolatier might arrive before Stardew Valley 1.7, while another guessed late 2027. These are community estimates, not developer announcements.[3]

The answer is ongoing development with an open calendar. Watch the official site for an actual launch window and platform details. For a developer polishing even the recipe-book screen, getting the chocolate right seems more important than printing a date on the wrapper.
